FIBERED FOUNDATION COATING

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

DISSCO 520 is a fibered asphalt base coating designed for use as a below grade dampproofing compound for residential and commercial applications. Manufactured from industrial-grade blown asphalts, high grade mineral spirits and select mineral fibers, the DISSCO 520 is designed to keep ground moisture from penetrating the foundation wall providing corrosion protection and help eliminate the damp feeling common to most basements. However, where a high moisture content, hydrostatic head or high water table is encountered the coating should be upgraded to a waterproofing compound such as the DISSCO 540 MASTIC.

DISSCO 520 will adhere to almost any type of material such as concrete, masonry block, wood, steel, plastic, etc. Due to varying types of applications the DISSCO 520 is available in four viscosities, and is available in packaged sizes of 5-gallon pails, 55-gallon drums and in bulk.

DISSCO 520 is manufactured from high-grade industrial type blown asphalts, mineral fibers and industrial grade mineral spirits.

DISSCO 520 can be applied as a one coat or two coat application, by brush or sprayed with adequate airless equipment. It is recommended that the DISSCO 520 coating be spray applied on below grade concrete and masonry structures so that a proper coverage can be achieved. An application by spraying causes the coating to be forced into the porous surface characteristic of concrete forming and masonry block. It is recommended that masonry block be parged (cement grouted) prior to dampproofing so that a better seal can be achieved. Spray equipment should maintain at least 800 psi at the spray tip to achieve proper penetration, although it can be sprayed with as little as 400 psi.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION RATES FOR BELOW GRADE FOUNDATION DAMPPROOFING

One Coat Application
DISSCO 520 is ready to use directly from the container, no thinning or heating required. It is recommended that a one-coat application of DISSCO 520 be applied at a rate of 2.5 to 3 gallons per 100 square feet of area with a dry film thickness of approximately then 20 mils.

Two Coat Application
For a two coat application it is recommended that each coat be applied at a rate of 2 to 2.5 gallons per 100 square feet of area with a finished dry film thickness of not less then 30 mils. The first coat should be allowed to dry for at least four hours before the second coat is applied.

AVAILABILITY

DISSCO 520 is available bulk and in packaged sizes of 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums.

When temperature is below 60°F-store product indoors overnight prior to use.
WILL NOT FREEZE, may be stored outdoors.
Clean equipment a good citrus based degreaser or with regular mineral spirits.

CAUTION

Contains mineral spirits. Do not use near fire or flame. Use with adequate ventilation. Vapor harmful. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin or breathing of vapor. Close container tightly after each use. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Call physician immediately. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

DISSCO warrants its products to be free of defects in materials, but makes no warranty as to appearance or color. Since methods of application and on site conditions are beyond our control and can affect performance, DISSCO makes no other warranty, expressed or implied, including warranties of MERCHANTABILITY and FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, with respect to DISSCO coatings. DISSCO's sole obligation shall be, at its option, to replace, or to refund the purchase price of, the quantity of DISSCO coating proved to be defective and DISSCO shall not be liable for any loss or damage, including incidental or consequential damages, arising from the use of DISSCO coatings.
