DISSCO 521

NON-FIBERED FOUNDATION COATING

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

DISSCO 521 is a nonfibered asphalt base coating designed for use as a below grade foundation dampproofing compound for applications where a high water content is not present. DISSCO 521 is designed to prevent moisture and/or dampness that may be present in the soil from penetrating a foundation wall providing corrosion protection and preventing the damp or musty feeling common to many basements. For applications where a high moisture content, hydrostatic head or high water table is present it is recommended to upgrade to a true waterproofing compound such as the DISSCO 540 Mastic. DISSCO 521 will adhere to almost any material such as concrete, masonry block, wood, steel, plastic, and many other surfaces. DISSCO 521 is manufactured from high grade industrial type blown asphalt and industrial grade mineral spirits.

DISSCO 521 can be applied as a one or two coat application, by brush or sprayed with adequate airless equipment. It is recommended that the DISSCO 521 coating be spray applied on below grade concrete and masonry structures so that a proper coverage can be achieved. An application by spraying causes the coating to be forced into the porous surface characteristic of concrete forming and masonry block. It is recommended that masonry block be parged (cement grouted) prior to dampproofing so that a better seal can be achieved. Spray equipment should maintain at least 600 psi at the spray tip to achieve proper penetration, though it can be sprayed with as little as 100 psi.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION SPECIFICATIONS

DISSCO 521 is ready to use directly from the container, no thinning or heating is required. It is recommended that a one coat application of DISSCO 521 be applied at a rate of 1.5 to 2 gallons per 100 square feet of area with a finished dry film thickness of approximately 12 mils.

For a two coat application apply the first coat at a rate of 1.5 to 2 gallons per 100 square feet of area. The first coat should be allowed to dry for at least two hours before a second coat is applied. Apply a second coat at a rate of 1 to 1.5 gallons per 100 square feet of area and shall achieve a two coat, dry film thickness of approximately 20 mils.

AVAILABILITY

DISSCO 521 is available bulk and in packaged sized of 5-gallon pails or 55-gallon drums.

WILL NOT FREEZE, may be stored outdoors.
When temperature is below 60°F- store product indoors overnight prior to use.
Clean equipment with a good citrus based degreaser or regular mineral spirits.

CAUTION

Contains mineral spirits. Do not use near fire or flame. Use with adequate ventilation. Vapor harmful. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin or breathing of vapor. Close container tightly after each use. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Call physician immediately. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

DISSCO warrants its products to be free of defects in materials, but makes no warranty as to appearance or color. Since methods of application and on site conditions are beyond our control and can affect performance, DISSCO makes no other warranty, expressed or implied, including warranties of MERCHANTABILITY and FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, with respect to DISSCO coatings. DISSCO's sole obligation shall be, at its option, to replace, or to refund the purchase price of, the quantity of DISSCO coating proved to be defective and DISSCO shall not be liable for any loss or damage, including incidental or consequential damages, arising from the use of DISSCO coatings.
